Image Size & Auto Resolution

mensula Visuals can work with architectural images that are much larger than a typical AI provider output. Auto mode is designed to choose a practical generation size from your current canvas or source image, while keeping the cost visible before you generate.

What Auto does

Auto is the default resolution mode when you have not manually selected a resolution in Engine Settings.

When you click Generate, Mensula looks at the active canvas or source image size and resolves Auto to a concrete request size: 1K, 2K, or 4K. The credit estimate shown next to Generate uses the same resolved size.

Current Auto thresholds

Auto uses the longest side of the active canvas or source image:

If a model does not support the exact requested size, Mensula uses the closest supported option available for that model.

Manual resolution

You can still choose a manual resolution in Engine Settings when a model exposes resolution controls.

Manual choices override Auto until you switch back to Auto. Manual resolution can be useful when you want to force a lower-cost draft or a higher-quality result on a smaller image.

Large images

Large architectural drawings, views, and renders can be much bigger than the maximum size an AI provider can generate directly.

When this happens, Mensula keeps your canvas size and places the generated result as a fitted layer over that canvas. In other words:

• Your project does not get silently converted into a smaller 4K project.
• Your composition canvas keeps its original dimensions.
• The AI provider may return an image smaller than the canvas.
• Mensula fits that generated image over the canvas as a layer.

This lets you keep working in the same project structure while staying within provider limits.

What this means for quality

If the canvas is very large and the provider returns a smaller image, the fitted layer may have less native detail when you zoom in deeply.

For more detail, use an upscale model after generating when one is available. Upscaling is a separate operation and may cost additional credits.

What this means for credits

The credit estimate shown before generation is based on the model, operation, and resolved resolution. With Auto, Mensula resolves the size first, then estimates the cost.

For example:

• A 2638 x 1432 image resolves to 2K.
• A 5044 x 3392 image resolves to 4K.
• A 15609 x 9091 image also resolves to 4K unless you choose an explicit high-resolution or upscale operation.

Always check the credit estimate next to Generate before running the operation.
