Cookie Policy

1. What this policy covers
This policy describes the cookies and other client-side storage (such as localStorage) that we and our sub-processors may use on this landing site (mensula.io) and the Mensula application (app.mensula.io). The term 'cookies' below refers to all client-side storage mechanisms unless noted.
2. Cookies and storage we use
Essential storage on the landing site: a 'locale' cookie to remember your language preference (1 year), and an authentication session cookie when you sign in to the application. These are strictly necessary for the site and the Service to function and do not require consent under EU rules. The application also caches some preferences in your browser's localStorage to make the interface fast and responsive — these are technically necessary for the Service.
3. Analytics — PostHog (Cookieless server-hash mode)
We use PostHog Cloud (European Union region) for product analytics and session replay across both the landing site and the application. PostHog runs in 'Cookieless server-hash mode' on our setup: it does not write any cookies or local storage on your device. Instead, you are identified for the duration of a single day by a server-side hash of your IP address, user agent, and a daily-rotating salt — this identifier cannot persist across days. Because no information is stored on your device, this analytics activity does not require consent under the ePrivacy Directive (Article 5(3)). We rely on legitimate interest under GDPR; you may object at any time as described in our Privacy Policy. Sentry (error monitoring) also operates with no analytics cookies — it captures short session recordings only when an error occurs.
4. Third-party cookies
We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Third-party services we embed for specific purposes (such as Cloudflare Turnstile bot protection and embedded YouTube video players via the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie domain) may set their own essential storage; we minimize this where possible.
5. Managing cookies and storage
You can control and delete cookies and local storage through your browser settings. Disabling them may affect functionality (for example, you would need to log in on every page load). For analytics specifically, the most reliable way to opt out is to email us at [email protected] to set your account preference; we are also building an in-product privacy settings page where you will be able to do this yourself.
